Who we are

St. Hannah Foundation, registered as St. Hannah Charity Foundation, is a charity based at 35 Ilaje Road, Bariga, Lagos, Nigeria, with a further office at 4310 S King Dr, Unit 3D, Chicago, IL 60653, United States.

We are responsible for the personal information you give us through this website, under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

What we collect and why

We only collect what you choose to give us through the forms on this website. The table below lists every form and exactly what it asks for.

Apply for support

Your name, gender, date of birth, nationality, phone number, email address, preferred contact method and how you heard about us; your address, state, local government area, how long you have lived there and your housing situation; the support you need, how urgent it is and why; your occupation, marital status, income and its source; your household, including children, dependants, dependants with special needs and elderly relatives; any support you have received before; and your own account of your situation.

Why: To assess your application, contact you about it, and provide and administer any support.

Volunteer

Your name, email address, phone and WhatsApp numbers, gender, date of birth, location, occupation, qualifications, profession, skills, previous volunteering, areas of interest, availability, commitment and motivation.

Why: To consider you as a volunteer and contact you about opportunities.

Partner with us

Your organisation, contact name, email address, phone number, location, the type of partnership and your message.

Why: To respond to your enquiry.

Donate online

Your name, email address, phone number, the amount and currency, and what your gift is for. Card details are entered on Paystack's checkout, not on this website.

Why: To process your gift through Paystack and send your receipt.

Donate items

Your name, email address and phone number; the item's category, description, quantity and condition; your location, the office receiving it, and delivery or collection details; your preferred contact method; and whether you would like your donation publicly acknowledged.

Why: To arrange receiving your donation.

Contact us

Your name, email address, the subject and type of your enquiry, and your message.

Why: To reply to you.

Newsletter

Your email address.

Why: To send you updates about our work.

International giving updates

Your email address.

Why: To tell you when giving in other currencies becomes available.

Sensitive information

Some of what the support application asks for is sensitive — your income, your housing, the needs of dependants with special needs, and your own account of your situation. We ask for your explicit consent before you submit it, and we use it only to assess and administer your application.

We do not ask for your national identity number when you apply. If your application is approved and identification is needed, we will ask for it then.

Information about other people

The support application asks about your household, including children and dependants. Please share only what is needed, and make sure the people concerned know you are sharing it.

Where your information is held

Our website, our email delivery and some embedded services are provided from outside Nigeria, mainly from the United States. This means information you submit through this website is transferred to, and held, outside Nigeria.

How long we keep it

We keep information only for as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected, or as the law requires.

After these periods we delete the information, or make it anonymous so that it can no longer identify you.

Cookies

This website does not set cookies of its own, and does not use analytics or advertising trackers.

Our contact page shows a Google map, and our gallery may show YouTube videos. Both are provided by Google, which may set cookies under its own policy. Paystack's checkout, where you enter payment details, is on Paystack's own website and is covered by its policy.

Keeping it safe

Information you send through this website travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Payment card details are entered on Paystack's checkout and never reach our website.

No system is completely secure. If a breach puts your rights at risk, we will tell the Nigeria Data Protection Commission and, where required, you.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:

  • be told how your information is used, as this policy does;
  • have a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • have your information deleted;
  • restrict or object to how we use it;
  • receive your information in a portable form;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
